Whenever we talk about Dhaba restaurants, it is almost synonyms to punjabi cuisine and is famous for its mouthwatering Dal Tadka, tandoori roti’s, and off course Paneer. But now a days our life is too busy that we hardly gets time to visit some Dhaba and enjoy its tasty food.

So here I came with my simple paneer masala recipe which when you will make at home reminds you of sitting in the Dhabha and having Paneer Masla…

Dhaba Style Paneer Masala

Ingredients
  

For Marinating Paneer

  • 300 gm Paneer
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Water

For Gravy

  • 3 Medium Onion Finely Grated
  • 4 Medium Tomato Finely Grated
  • 3 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3-4 Cardamom Crushed
  • 4-5 Cloves Crushed
  • 4-5 Black Pepper Crushed
  • 1 inch Cinammon Sticks Crushed
  • 1 inch Ginger Julians
  • 6 Garlic Cloves Crushed
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Black Chickpeas
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 tsp Kasoori Methi
  • 1 Tbsp Gram Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for shallow fry Paneer

Instructions
 

Marination:

  • Cut paneer into cubes and place them in a bowl.
  • Add turmeric powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, salt, garam masala and water.
  • Mix gently so that paneer gets well coated with the masala . Keep aside for 30 minutes.

Prepare Gravy:

  • Heat oil and ghee in a kadhai. Add cumin seeds, crushed green cardamom, crushed cloves, crushed black pepper and crushed cinnamon sticks. Saute for a minute.
  • Add grated onions and salt. When onions gets half done (light brown) add ginger and garlic. Now cook the onions until golden brown.
  • Now add red chilli powder, black pepper, garam masala, kasori methi, coriander powder , cumin powder and gram flour. Mix the masala and cook for about 2 minutes so that all the dry ingredients cooks well.
  • Add coriander leaves, mix well and add grated tomato, mix well. Close the lid and cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
  • Now open the lid and cook them on high flame till all the masala and tomato cooks well and oil gets separated.
  • In the meanwhile, shallow fry the paneer cubes for a minute.
  • Now add the paneer cubes in the gravy and 1 cup of water. Mix gently and cover the lid and cook them for 2-3 minutes. It will help the paneer gets well coated with the masala.
  • Our Dhaba style paneer masala is ready to serve with chapati, paratha or rice.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve HOT.
